LAND SALES.

♦ On Thursday, next. 19th February, Messrs T. Kennedy Macdonald & Co. will sell by public auction m the hall of the Athangeum, City of Wellington, the first area of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company's splendid land, comprising rural sections m tha Pitzherbert Blocks, and allotments m the township of Linton. The sale will commence at 11 a.m., as there are so many sections to be offered, that it will take«several hours to complete the sale. The area to be sold m the Fitzherbert Blocks comprises from 18,000 to 19,000 acres of agricultural ami pastoral lands of first class quality, and is conveniently situated for access from thfi settled portions of tbe blocks. Each section has a frontage to a road connected with the district ready, which lead to the railway station at Linton, seven and a half miles from Palmoratoii North. The township of Linton and suburbs comprise about five hundred and fifty acres, and is the site of the station, four miles from the junction of the company's railway with ihe Foxton-Taranaki lino. The main road through the Fitzherbert Block leads to the station and the township, and will be the terminus for the traffic of the district. The upset prices for pastoral lands will range from 20s to 30s per acre, and for Agricultural lands from 35s to 60s per acre. Small capitalists, and settlers anxious to secure a really good investment on exceptionally reasonable terms, will have an opportunity of doing so at this important sale which may uot be offered them again for a long time to come. Plans oE lands and schedules of upset prices can be seen at every post office m the colony, and may be obtained on application at the company's offices, Wellington and Palmerston North. Full, information how to inspect the sections will be furnished at the offices of the company, Paltnerston North, where arrangements can be made by intending purchasers, on nny date from now till the 16th February, to have the guidance of competent persons to any section shown for sale on the plans. Wo anticipate for this sale an unprecedented success, as the quality of the lands and other special advantages will be sure to induce eager competition * for the various sections. About the beginning of March next Messrs Beokktt, Hammond & Dick will hold a great laud sale m Marton. The sections to be offered are situated m the Upper Rangitikei District, and are part of the Raugatira Block. The area to be offered will comprise about 4000 acres, comprising the Hunterville township extension, and a large number of rural and suburban sections, varying fmm 5 to 320 acres, the town sections from a quarter acre to three acres. All the sections have frontages to well graded roads, some of which are formed and are now being metalled ; others will be shortly cleared one chain wide. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Auckland passes through the entire length of this block, as also the Martou-Otamakapua-Murimotu Road. The whole of the rural and suburban sections aro covered with forest, there being patches of fine totara suitable for milling purposes. The general character of the soil is of splendid quality. A sawmill will shortly be erected on the Block. Lithographs of the property and full particulars will shortly be obtainable. The title will be under the Land Transfer Act, and the terms will be very liberal.
