Wesleyan Tea Meeting.
The Wesleyan tea meeting/ ; neld m the schoolhouse at Ashurstjlast night, was a decided success. The tablos which were the prettiest we remember seeing, were ladeu with delicacies cacuratad to tempt the most fastidious and reflected the highest credit upon the donors. After the tables were daared, an interesting meeting was held. The Her. Mr Bunij, m a few encouraging, words, referred to the progress of church matters m the villages, and exhorted his hearers to a still more diligent observance of their duties as members of the church. The rev. gentleman ever ready with smart repartee and joke provoked unrestrained merriment, keeping the audience m genuine good humour during the whole of the evening. Selections from v Nativity," consisting «f solos, duets, quartettes, and choruses' were rendered at intervals m a most pleasing manner, by the Palmerston Wesleyan Choir, under the able leadership of Mr Hartley, Mrs Carty, m the absence* of Miss Mowlem, presidiug at the harmonium. The usual votes of thanks. were heartily accorded, and thesihgingof tueDbxology brought to a close a most enjoyable meeting. ' « :>'
