Joseph Davis, licensee of the Tua Marina Hotel, has beon committed for trial for unlawfully alteriug a cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, the charge being laid under the Forgery A<*t% It was alleged that the accuse,^ w/ho is on old resident, and a n?,a.Q of property, filled up a checp\o far £2 at the request of one O'Letiry, and after deducting the hotel debt gave O'Leary a few shillings change.
