Waste Lands Board.

Tho 'ordinary fortnightly meeting of the "Wellington Waste Lands Board was held on Friday, there being present Messrs H. Bunny (m the chair) MoCardie, Beetham, Fitzherbert, and Mason. It was reported that since last meeting 238 acres 11 rods 8 perches hod boon sold at Mangonc, for .£'23B 31s Bd. The board agreed to grant permission to capitalise the unpaid instalments on then- respective sections to the following persons :— Messrs A. Rogers,. John Gillespie, and J. Hurley, Kainga, and Eli Smith, Mangaone. * The application of Messrs J. Hirst, Keagan, Corbett, and Igoe, for extension of time m which to burn off the timber felled on their sections, was granted. The question of the appointment of a Crown Lands Ranger was postponed till the next meeting. Referring to an application by Mr H. Shearman, who sought permission to take up cash section 1, Block X., Mangaone, on the deferred-payment system, it was resolved that the applicant be informed that the land m question would be included m the lease and deferred sections about to be offered. The report of Mr Annabel!, assistant surveyor, on the application ot Mr Poison for pormission to purchase land adjoining his property m the Paratuke Block was entertained, and it was decided to lay off the land at the expense of the applicant, and sell it to that gentleman at a price to be decided by the Commissioner of Crown Lands and the ranger. The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands wrote stating that the suggestions of the board that the plans for the opening up of Crown lands should be submitted to the Board would bo considered by the Government. Mr McCardle proposed that no tenders for opening up roads should be opened till the next meeting. It was resolved to recommend the Government to withdraw tho cash sections remaining unsold m South Mangaone, and to offer them on lease and deferred payment. This concluded the business.
