In the course of his speech, he referred to the question of annexation m the Pacific, and declared that England i was not entitled to prevent foreigners from colonizing, but, if the rights of Australasia Were threatened, the whole power of England must be extended m defence. The power of Australasia, he said would be paramount m the Pacific j within the next half century.
