Scandinavian Concert.
There was' a' fair Attendance at the above concert given last evening m the Town Hall as a farewell entertainment to the Pastor of the": Scandinavian- Wesleyan body who is leaving Palmerston for another district; .•; A largg number of English settlers were present besides Scandinavians, ; an;d certainly rfbr an impromptu entertainment wjjiich.it certainly wiis most of tlie singers only receiving a day's notice !6f the requirement of their services, the concert as far as the rendition of a capital -progrirtflme' Went, was played by Miss Leary perfectly, and listening to her rendition of Thalberg's beautiful and exceedingly difficult composition "Home Sweet, Efome " was a treat m itself." Next came' a Scandinaviansong by Mrs Neilson with guitar accompaniment, pleasingly rendered. A duett by Miss Grace and Mrs Kittlewhiite " List to the Convent Bells 'I. was well sung, and was followed by Mrs Vivian's effectively rendering " an entirely new song called " John the ; ! C&rier " for which she was londly applauded. Mrs Neilson sang well with guitaraccompaniinent, m Scandmj*vian,..fo}Jo;w t ed by Mrs Bunn, rendering. "When , Sparrows Build" carefully andwith expressive taste. The gem of the evening ' wafe certainly the next item. A pretty little fair haired girl of perhaps eight summers*, daughter of the new pastor Mr Neilson, played a harp accompaniment to her own song, the correct sounding of the chords and the style of playing being really wonderful. A duett by Mrs .Leigh, and Mrs Hoe came next, "The Wind and the Harp," sung by them m their usual faultless style. " Didst thoubut know" was next given, after \wliicl£Mrs Bunn sang with much 1 effect " Kiilarney." The pianoforte rendition of Weber's "Last Waltz" was given 'by Miss Giesen m a style denoting her complete ease at the instrument and perfect knowledge of difficult; mus&: Mrf Leigh followed with " Two Roses," singing charmingly and with her usual effectual expression. Mrs Hoe next gave " Ruby " and also scored a success in 'singing with animation and correctness. The acuu.6 iVLISSOS -LiGftry BfUCI UliTowlfiUl ftTlfl i,YtQ whole presided over by the *Rev. Mr Bunn. A very- enjoyable evening was brought to a cldse about 9.30 by the singing of the Naiftraal Anthem.
