Auckland, Jan. 2. , Collins, who has been prospecting m the ranges m the interior, eighty miles north of Napier, and discovered a reef 2ft thick, consisting of dark blue quartz, has brought some of the stone to Auckland and had a bank test, which yielded at the rate of 4oz Bdw£ 4gr gold to the • * . _. nil. - -« a...•"■' - •"■'- • .-.„-'■>»* but it resembles certain classes of Cororaandel. quartz. - Collins returned to Napier by the Manapouri to-day, and intends to float a company there. He has written to the Minister of Mines applying for a prospector's license.
