Dunedil^, Dec. 31. John Whiteman, the guam of the Invercargil express train, was\ killed on the jouruey to Dunediu, near Levell's Flat. It appears he was walking on the top of the carriages to reach the&rear of the train, and, having his bactVo the engine, he did not observe the proxyjinity . of an overbridge.
