WATCHMAN^foaIed Ist November, 1878, and is now rising ( 4 years old ; sire Fowler's Wallace, dam Maggie j is a rich brown, h 16^ hands his[h, has a clean, flinty bone and nice hair, and is very active. His sire, the pure imported Clydesdale horse, Fowler's Wallace, bred by Mr Donald McKinley, Wouldhatn Hall, near Gloucester, out of a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr J. N. Fleming, Catnpbelton, Scotland ; her sire, the celebrated horse Lofty Wallace, gained several first prizes before leaving the Old country. Maggie was bred by Mr Sutherland, Taieri, Otago, out; of a Napoleon mare, by Sir William Wallace (imported). Sir William Wallace, bred by William Anderson, Esq., Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, out of Brisk, by Garibaldi. As a yearling took first prize at Maybole, Kirkmichael, and Glasgow, and second at Ayr. As a two-year-old, second at Ayr and Glasgow, and also second at the Highland Society's Show held that year at Edinburgh ; and when only three days lauded m Otago took second prize against horses of all ages at the Taieri, although only 2£ years old.
