It turns out that Mr Morice, his wif« t and eldest boy were bathing together, and Mrs Morice getting into deep wafer, her husband sent the boy to the Maori kaik for assistance. A Maori l&d went m at one time and had a hold of both of them, but a rope being thrown to him from the beach, he let go Mr Morice to grasp it, and the latter was drowned. His body came ashore m twenty minutes or so.
