The Native Minister.
It is the intention of the Minister of Defence to return to Wanganui m the first week of the new year, his object being to attend a meeting of the Upper Wanganui natives, when the subject of the construction of the Main Trunk line ot railwjtyiuuul the matter affectiim- the native lands-adjacent to the line will be considered. lOSsiiot improbable that the vexed question, of opening up the Wanganui river wiUWso be considered. It is the intention of Mr Ballance after the meeting to make a bour to the East Coast, taking the Wairaiapa district on his way. The Minister will visit Major Kopata, and other chiefs, and will then proceed to Waikato, where he will eive audience to Kewi and Wahanui. In his capacity of Minister of Lands, Mr Bal lance m all probability, will, on his return from the North, pay an official visit to the Middle Island. T
