CORRESPONDENCE.
An Improper Practice.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.)
I am a stranger m your district* and : must s&y I am favourably impressed with it, audits country and the, man-; agement of the town, &c. But I saw a thing a few morning's ago that I think should not be allowed. I was taking an early morning wall? tip the Bangitikei Boad, and when opposite West's Buildings saw a horseman galloping a racehorse on the side of the street, cutting up the formation sadly. I stood and watched him while he rode from end to end of the street several times. The race-heree- had clothing on and' was. do' ing what is called a " sweater" I pre sume. Surely your Borough Council, does not allow, your streets, which have been made with the ratepayers' money, and maintained out of the public pocket, ;io be. thus abused. The formation waa soft and the earth was much cut up by the horse's hoofs, I should consider ;su.ch. ! a. f thing very reprehensible, andshoujdbe put a stop to, You will exc«pe ; my ad? dressing you on the subject, being-a non. resident, out your columns, ;aje open to me, I suppose, all, the. same, 1 X am, &'c, . . .'[' "PEDESTRUy, V DecO.
