A case of considerable interest was brought before the Pitea Besidunt Magistrate recently, when Dr Dickie, of Waverlpy, was charged by Mr A. Monro, Inspector of Sheep, with having 200 sheep not properly branded. Mr Monro briefly stated the case as brought under the 15th section of the Act, which fixed a penalty on all sheep unbranded of any sum not exceeding £10 per head. He stated, howo.ver, that ha- believed the present casu to ho ono of ommission only, aud, therefore, had uo wish to press for any penalty at all, but would leave the matter entirely m the hands of the Court. The defendant pleaded guilty, and the Court inflicted a fine of 3d per head and 7s costs, m all £2 17s.
