Laery and Campbell report : — During the past week business has been satisfactorily steady. Flour, notwithstanding efforts to raise the price, still continues at £9 per ton ; wheat is offering fairly well, and may be quoted for firstclass samples 2s 6d to 3s, inferior unsaleable ; . oats, a very bright, heavy feed, are worth, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; honey, if well put up, is worth about £45 to £50 per ton ; potatoes, for old sorts, the supply is quite equal to the demand at about £4 to £4 10s per ton, ex store, sacks free ; new potatoes during the past week have been selling at Id per pound, at which price, we Relieve, they will stand for sometime, as it will now be some ten days before there are fresh arrivals ; there is not an onion m the market ; butter continues m an unsatisfactory position, while it is nominally worth 6d to 7d per pound, owing to retailers being so well stocked, it is hard to place at even 4d ; the stocks of cheese are getting low but it is slow of sale at 5d to s£d ; hams and bacon may be quoted at 9d all round ; eggs are worth lOd to lid per doz. Poultry is very scarce, and the demand for horses has not abated one bit, but there are none coming forward.
