The Great Eastern.
Regarding the steamer Great Eastern, the Pall Mall Gazette says : - — "The hopes of the unfortunate holder* of shares m that most unlucky speculation, the Great Eastern steamship, have once more Iteen falsified, and their white elephant is still upon their hands. For the ifest, the accounts of the company for the pa.^t year are far from cheering". The total receipts amount to .£173 Is Id, including the sum of £24 paid m fees by visitors to the colossal failure. The expenditure, on the other hand, reaches the total of £2834 6s 7d.
