.The 8.8. Waihora, from Auckland arrived at Sydney on Monday. By a special we learn that the Land Bill has been recommitted m the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. for consideration of amendments introduced by the Legislative Council. Mr D'Arcy Hyland succeeded m carrying off the stakes m the contest between himself and Professor Lichtwark as to who could do the most with a certain number of horses. ' The alteration m the Telegraph Department came into force to-day. The delivery of messages without talcing receipts is a eonsiderable^saviug of time to both the department and the public. By a telegram we learn that the case for the defence is finished m the libel action. It is uncertain as to how long the case will lust, but it is evident the greater part of the evidence has been taken.. Dr A. H. Burton will give a gospel address this evening m the Town Hull at 7.30. Admission is free aud there will be no collection. We again remind our readers that the tea meeting and sacred concert m aid of the Wesleyan Church takes place this evening. No trouble or expen-e has been spared to make both tea and concert a •uccess, and as the price of admission is fixed at a mere nominal figure and the object is a worthy one the attendance should be very large. We have received the catalogue of the Rangitikei-Manawatu Poultry and Produce Society, the first show of which will be held at Bulls on the 21st instant. There are several special prizes of £1, but the ordinary prises are 7s 6d and 3s 6d. The various classes are : Poultry, pigeon, canaries, rabbits, cats, dogs, grain, dairy produce, and bread. The first aunual report of the Marlborough meat Freezing Company has recommended a dividend of 10 per cent, and £150 to carried to be the reserve fund.
