Prp sent— Wardens : Pratt, Edwards, Edwards, Mathieson, Sly, and Akers. In the absence of the chairman (G. •M. Snelson) Mr Sly was voted to the chair. Minutes of the last general and special meetings read and confirmed. DEPUTATION. Mr Fair waited on the Board to know the resnlt of the enquiry into the position of owners of property adjoining streams m the event of of the latter getting blocked. Mr Fair was informed that the Board had not received a reply from the Board's solicitor but would be communicated with when such was received. Mr Win. Knight waited on the Board: re recoupment for outlay m bushfalling at the rate of L 2 per acre. . ' Resolved that the matter be left over till next meeting m order to hear the warden' (Mr Snelson) opinion on the subject. Later on on the information required was received by letter and after a deal of handing about the contents were deciphered somewhat, and to the effect that the Board had no control whatever over the streams m the district, neither to compel property owners to clear them nor by taking action themselves.

Mr Jas. Mowlem waited on the Board re land slips on No. 4. line, Fitzh^ibert. The engineer stated that Mr Suelson had asked him to state his (Mr Sneteon's) opinion nt the meeting viz. that he thought it desirable to proceed with this work. After some discussion as to funds, Mr Aknrs proposed and Mr Pratt seconded that the matter be left m the hands of the engineer to determine, and that the amount to be expended not to excoed LlO. Mr Knight also waited to know if a rauger could not be appointed for the ward. Messrs Peck (2) and auother waited on the Board m reference to Stoney Creek-Bunnythorpe Line as to when balance of contract left unfinished by Williams and Foley would be carried out. Long discussion took place here as to the financial position of the ward. It was ultimately resolved to attend to the matter immediately on the settlement of rates difficulty between the Manchester & Mauawatu Road Board, Letters received from the Treasury advising the remittance of sum on account Kairanga deferred payment. From the Public Works re the application forwarded by the Board for LSOOO under Road Construction Act, ft (Main road) requesting particulars as to the proposed disposal of the amount applied for. Reply forwarded informing Department of the particulars required.
