Momnug.
The thoroughbred Somnus is to stand at Foxton this season, and the advertisement referring to him will appear tomorrow. Local breeders will have m Somnus the very best
bi ed horse that has ever visited Manawatu : His dam was the im- ; ported mare Hammock, having such : strains of bl6od as Buccaneer, Touch- ; stone, Orest, ond other celebrated ' Sires. Of the sire of Somnus, the grand old Traducer, nothing need be | said, as his memory is still green | among the patrons of the turf. * The i terms are very reasonable, and a similar opportunity to breeders may nay not be offered again for a long time. Only a limited number of mares will be taken, so that early application is necessary. Somnus will net. travel, but will stand at " The Pine?," Fox' on, during the season. The Hon. Robert Campbell his former owner, who lately saw him, said that if he were dow.n Sputh, he ' would send him every mare he had. Good judges consider^ , him only 'turpasped by Musket of all the shoroughbred sires m New Zealand.
