Parliamentary Notes.
i (Herald Correspondent.) I Wellington, August 18. ! Ministers were sworn mon Saturday afternoon shortly after the arrival of Mr ! Stout, from Lyttelton, and have been ! together almost the whole time since. It is generally believed that the Opposition will attack the new administration upon the Address-in-Reply. They would have been disposed to give the Ministry a fair trial, but cannot overcome their objections to the Radical and insular elements m the Ministry, therefore it has been decided to show them no mercy. I have it on the best authority that Mr Ormond will give a general support to the new Government. This will probably upset the calculations of the Opposition, who hoped that Mr Ormond would not give his adhesion to the new party, and the action of Mr Ormond will probably affect a few votes. i The result of no-confidence debate on \ the Address-in- Reply is extremely problematical ; but when it is disposed of there will be another fight over the Chairmanship of Committees, which will be made a party question. Sir Julius Yogel has secured a room within the buildings next to one of the Press Chambers, and will reside upon j the spot during the sitting days of the i session. A rumour was current on Saturday night to the effect that Captain Morris had accepted the vacant seat m the new C&binet. The statement is at least premature, as no determination has yet been arrived at as to filling the vacancy.
