The Money Market.
Messrs Chas. Pownall and Co., scriveners, report :— The money market remains m the same inactive state, both as to supply and demand, the only sums offering for mortgage being some sundry trust funds to a limited amount. For these, on good securities, 7£ to 8 per cent, is accepted. Rumours emanatiug from good authority, reach us that a large amount of English capital will shortly be placed m this country :f or investment, and, if realised, we may look forward to the present depressed ;position being amended, assisted probably by the new Ministry who are Ijkely, if they have the opportunity, to become further largo borrowers.
