Taonul.
(from our own correspondent.) On Wednesday eveuing a very enjoyable entertainmedt was given by some of our local performers, consisting of minstrelsy and comedy, most happily combined, under the efficient management of Mr Coles, who has on previous occasions occupied a similar position. The nigger minstrelsy was very effectively rendered, the opening chorus beginning at 8 p.m. Mr Coles took the partofMassa Johnson, while Mr Symonds creditably undertook the duty of musicial director, Mr A. Goldfinch and Thompson giving a capital representation of the ideal comer man. The farce which followed was most amusing, and the jokes of the sable minstrels were enjoyed to the utmost After the conclusion of the entertainment there was a very pleasant gathering of the patrons of the 'Ught fantastic toe,' and dancing was kept up till midnight, the music being supplied by Messrs Walty and Symonds. Altogether th,e affair passed off mo?l successfully, The proceeds are to be devoted to giving the school children of the district a summer excursion; These periodical gatherings quite enliven and socialize our little community.
