School Committee.
The monthly meeting was held last night. Present : Measi-s Leary, Stewart, Wbodroofe, Wright, and Russell. The minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed, the correspondence was dealt with. Mr Leary read ar letter he had written to tlie Board re additional assistant teacher required, and other matters. The Board had replied to the effect that the school is at present over officered aud that when the attendance would warrant it, an assistant would be appointed. Regarding school repairs the Board said it was not m funds. The following resolution affecting pupil teachers was carried : — Proposed by Mr Russell and seconded by Mr Woodroofe — That Mr Leary communicate with the inspector advising that they receive instruction f rom'Mr Watson. Resolved that the Chairman be empowered to have the bottles removed i from the Terrace End School. Mr Stewart presented some excel--1 ont pictures to be hung m the school. The 'committee resolved to accord their thanks to Mr Stewart. Tho following accounts were passed tor payment subject to correction r- 4 - W. Parke, L 2 3s 9d; ditto, LI Os 2d; Mr Leary, 13s 4d, . The fql lowing reports were read: — HEAD MASTER'S REPORT. The average attendance for the last four weeks has been 226-7. The roll number for the same period 4)Bing 312. Fifteen new scholars have joined and ten have loft during that time. As you will have seen the pupil teachers from the school passed at the l late examination. —Franois JS, Watson. | TERRACE END SCHOOL. The following is report for the Terrace End School for the month of July : — Number on book this quarter, 57 boys, 65 girls; number m attendance during the month of July, 54 boys, 64 girls'; number admitted during the mouth. 3 boys, 6 girls; daily average attendance, 38*1 boys, 45*1 girls. The school now is as full as is required by the Board's regulation. We have m use the now furniture and apparatus provided by the Board with the exception of ball-frame and door-mat, The low average I think is, due to coldness felt m the room drying the bad weather. — M, A, Harvey,
