Tt »vas the opinion of the members that the bust way of dealing with the question would be for one or more delegates from each of the local bodies interested to meet aud discuss the matter. The clerk was instructed to communicate this suggestion to Mr Sher-' will, aud Warden> Bailey and Lethbridge were appointed delegates. Warden Bailey stated that other local bodies were striking a county rate, and he would like it definitely understool whether the Manchester board intended doing so. The Chairman slated that there was no intention of striking more than a three -farthings rate, and next year he considered a halfpenny rate would be quite sufficient. Resolved, " That delegates be invited from the Kiwi tea Road Board, Manawatu Road Board, Manchester Road Board, and Halcombe Town Board, to attend a meeting to lie held at the Road Board oitice, Feilding, on Monday, the 18th August, at twelve o'clock, to consider the question of grants to the Wanganui hospital, and that Mr Lethbridge be the delegate from this board." The adjustment of accounts between the Oroua County Conncil and the Road Board was then made, which showed a debit balance of £127 18s 3d but there are still about £250 of rates to come m. Warden Bailey drew attention to the Feilding-Bunnythorpe-road, the expense of which, he was of opinion, should be borne by the Manawatu Road Board, the road being a boundary between the two districts. It was arranged that the chairman should write to them on the subject. Resolved, "That notice be given of the intention of the board to strike an ordinary rate of three-farthings m the pound." Warden Cotter handed m his resignation for No, 6 Ward, as he found he had not sufficient timo to devote to the business." Resolved, " That Warden Cotter's resignation bo accepted with regret." The Chairman stated that he would not bo able to be present at the next two or three meetings of the board. Resolved, " That no county rate be struck for the ensuing year. Accounts were passed for the amount of £654 16s Id, and the board adjourned.
