Wellington Produce markets

Wellington, Monday Morning, Haasell and Co. report the market overstocked with potatoes, and difficult to quit at 55s per ton. Oats are firm at last quotations ; no maize offering ; prime salt butter is m demand, but inferior is quite unsaleable ; onions are scarce ; bran and pollard have advanced 10s per ton. Fruit has come to hand f>*eely, and realised satisfactory prices. Apples, 10s to 16s ; oranges, 10s to 13s ; mandarins, 15s to 17s 6d ; lemons, 30s per case. Poultry is m demand, but very little offering. George Thomas reports produce as follows :— Flour (colonial), from L9 los, m sacks (Adelaide), Ll4 ; fowls' wheat, best samples, 2s 9d to 3s ; bran, scarce, L 4 15s, bags extra ; pollard, L 5 ss ; feed oats, from 28 5d to 2s 6d.; milling 2s 7d ; and seed, 2s 8d for black and white varieties ; oatmeal, L12 10s ; feed barley, quite neglected and offered at 2s 3d; maize, scarce, about 4s 6d ; beans, 4s ; peas, 3s 6d ; potatoes, £jOs ; kidney seed;, L$ for prime Ashleaf and Lapstooe,* onions have advanced, bujt the demand is limited, and no doubt the highest figure is reached nt Ll6 ; hams, bacon, and cheese are without alteration at lOd, 9d, and 3d, respectively ; eees have Is 4d ; fresh butter, firm at 1b 3d ; fowls, 3s 9d ; ducks, 4s Gd per pair ; turkeys, 4s fid each. Fruit market scantily supplied, and prices high.
