Mr Macarthur has* been c.onnected with local politics* eyer since his arrival m Ma.nawatii, haying been Chairman of the Manawacu County Council for some years, and lately Chairman of the Orou.a County Council. He. js also Ohairin,au. . of the .M applies! er Road Board, huvingbeen. a n^cmbpr ot" that body since itsj constitution m. 1874.
