Greymouth, July 31. A very heavy shock of earthquake was felt at Ahaura at 10.35 this morning, accompanied by a rumbling noise and a shaking of the house. Dunediv, July 31. It is supposed that the man who died m the streets of Auckland is named Fred Young, who was a patient at the hospital for lung disease. On being discharged he travelled the country m search of work, but it proved too much for him. He was laid up on a station at StruthTaieri, where some L 7 was raised to procure . him a passage to Auckland for the benefit of a milder climate. At the Cromwell Post Office two of the officials m counting the letters (moistening the fingers to do so) experienced sickness and internal qualms. It was found on examination that a package of stiychinne among the letters had got loose. Oamabu, June 17. Mr Andrew Ankenhead, a wellknown farmer, was found dead m his bedroom this morning. The cause of death is not known.
