CORRESPONDENCE.

An Inquiry.

(TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.) Srit,— This morning I had occasion to go to the Court to get a summons our. for a Maori, who I believe lives at the Oroua bridge. I offered the usual fee of 5s for the summons, and told the Clerk that I would give it to the Maori myself, as he was m Palmerston. Now, I was told I could riot serve it: unless empoweiredby the bailift and: unless I paid 15a instead of sh, the extra 10s being for mileage, although the man was m town, and the summons could have been served on him m ten minutes': time. I would merely ask, Is this justice? — I am, &o. t T. Jordan.
