THE SITUATION.
The meeting of Government supporters, says a Wellington paper, took, place on; Saturday morning, according to arrangement, and was
very fully attended. It is no secret that the object m view v;ts to take the sense of the party regarding the course to be pursued by the Government m the present crisis. The conclusion arrived at was that His Excellency should be .advised to sanction an appeal to the constituencies at the earliest possible moment. There is no truth whatever m the rumour that the |Premier or any other Minister dissented. In the event of His Excellency's granting a dissolution, the absolutely necessary business of the session will be got through m a very few , days— probably this week, or early next week. Parliament will then > be prorogued, and dissolved next day. I The writs will issued immediately hereafter, and will be returnable within forty days. We may therefore expect the new Parliament to be summoned for the despatch of business some time m the month of August.
