THE KNIGHT OF WESTOE.
Thk Wellington correspondent of a contemporary asserts that Sir William Fox will succeed Sir Dillon Bell as Agent-General; The cat is now out of the bag. This is why Sir William could not stand for Rangitikei. The valiant old ; Commissioner is after a much better thing than being member for Rangitikei. Sir William evidently knows his. way about. Out of a fat Commissionership with satisfactory emoluments and innumerable perquisites into the Agent-General's billet! This accounts for him be-, ing m so of much a hurray to get away. Sir William Fox surely cannot say that New Zealand treats its old-identity politicians ungratefully. She has been a grand old foster-mother to him.
