Theft by an Apprentice.
(united press association.) Invbbcahgill, June 9. At the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day Thomas Robinson, aged' 16, ►an apprentice to a hairdresser/ was committed for triaL for feloniousiy, entering^ the premises of Scott, fruiterer, adjoining those of his employer, and stealing goods. Scott deposed that for two months past he had suspected some person was m the habit pf enjerfngthe shop between Saluy day Bight and Monday morning. In consequence of that suspicion he handed over ihe key to Detective Edie, and on Sunday morning he -went into the shop and locked the door after him. He etitVred the room behind shop, and remained there till he heard someone on the premises of Peters' adjoining ; and five minute* afterwards uecused entered Scott's shop by the front door. Edie moved m bis chair, causing il to creak, and accused, attracted by the noise, came to the door of the room, and saw him. When charged with the offence be admitted having taken two sticks of chocolate (produced', and said he had obtained the key with which he opened the door m the towel room of Peters establishment. It was a spare key, and! had not been used by Peters for any purpose.
