Mr Gaustad's Lecture.

Pastor Gaustad's lecture on Monday evening was well attended. The Mayor occupied the chair. The lecture was characterized by a solemn and impressive earnestness which was apparent throughout. The lecturer dwelt exhaustively with the question, v What is Christianity ? " and demonstrated his entice faith m the sacred inspiration of the Bible. He quoted extensively from many writers to prove the authenticity of the doctrine of the Trinity, and denounced the idea, as claimed by the Spiritualists, thub their religion was to be the religion of the future, and foreshadowed -what evils might ensue were such a doctrine accepted by the bulk of the people. Those present were much impressed by the zeal and solemn earnestness of manner that testified to the lecturer's inward convictions on the subject of his address.
