A FIRE-BELL.

It will be seen by our report of the Borough Council meeting last night, that a committee has been appointed to purchase and erect a fire-bell for use within the Borough. The ratepayers will feel grateful to Cr Perkins for having strenuously urged the matter upon the attention of the Council. The want of a fire-bell is one ef the chief shortcomings of Palmerston, as has been forcibly illustrated on more than one occasion, when fires took place duriug the night unknown to the greater part of the population till the following- day. In those columns we have repeatedly called attention to the serious drawback referred to, and we ar« pleased to be able to place on record that the want referred to will soon uo longer have to be complained of.
