The Missing Schooner.
'(■UNITED PERSS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, May 12. Further particular have been received concerning 1 the schooner Atlantic. Captain Cleverly states that the pilot schooner passed the Atlantic about 11 o'clock on Saturday night .between the Reef anJ Tiritiri. As she; was burning up flare-up lights, the pilot of the schooner went alongside and asked what they wanted, ■when .Captain Simpson (the passenger) said they wanted nothing. All hands, it is said, appeared to be the worse for liquor. This morning Captain Cleverly also learned that his clothes and ship's papers had been Sent on shore at Devonport and left at the Flagstaff Hotel, where he .received them later m the day. Captain Simpson wrote a note to the owners before leaving, m which he states that as Captain Cleverly was not on boai'd he was going to take the vessel to sea himself. This letter, however, was not opened until after she had cleared out, which the writer probably intended should be the case. Simpson has a French master's certificate, but would not have been allowed to take the vessel away by the Custom?, and, were he to return here, he would undoubtedly be severely punished. It is supposed he will take the e-ssel to Mangaia, where she was bound, but there remains a doubt a« to whether he will ever reach there. At Mangaia he cannot be punished as there is no British Consul there. Captain Cleverly .remains m town, waiting for the owners of the vessel to act m the matter.
