Important Decision.

<■' 'I .'(uiJirfED : pkess asscciatio*.) Hokitika, May 12. At the District Court yesierday the case •of th<» Borough of Hokotika v. Wustland County Council was heard. The question was, whether the » orongh or the county was entitled to fees paid for an auctioneer's license by a Mr Robinson. It appears that Robinson's license empowers him to sell anywhere m the provincial dis-trict-of Westland, and he sometimes conducts sales at Greymouth and Hokitika, but generally at the cattle yards at Arahura. His office is m Hokitika, and he conducts his cori'es pondence from here and also keeps his books there. Judge Broad held that the man's usual place of business /was where supreme management or administration was carried on as a whole, and not any place where he might transact some special portion of it, and decided that the borough and not the county had a right to the ices.
