THE SOUDAN.
Caieo, May 11. The statement that the military authorities here have received an order from the British Government to make preparations for the dispatch of an expedition into Soudan under the command of Lord Wolsley has been ascertained to be incorrect. Such orders, however, are expected hourly. Latest intelligence from Soudan has caused much alarm here. It is to the effect that Mahdi has ordered Osman Dignah, the leading rebel chief m the Eastern Soudan, to attack and capture Dongola,;\nd thence to advance into Upper Egypt. Nothing is yet known regarding the force that Osman Dignah has now at his command.
