FINANCIAL CRISIS IN AMERICA.
Washington, May 6. Congress has rejected the Tariff Bill m which provisions are made for a reduction to the extent of 20 per cent of Customs Duties on numerous articles, including wool and woollen goods. Several heavy privatebank failures have occured at New York, the well known firm of Grant and Co., (Baron Grant) being partners m insolvent concerns.
