An Inquiry.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.) Sut, — Is it true-that the person who wrote this false report about our late constable, which has caused such indignation m the district, has stated that he knew " whatever he asked Inspector James for he would grant him, as he (the Inspector) was a personal friend of his." Inspector James should be told of this. It is also reported that this person said : " The Licensing Bench and Justices can do their best. . I defy them. I'll carry my point, as I did m the Wards business." Really, Sir, is the whole place to W under the thumb of this person? It geems like it. I, for one, objoct to InS ruling the roast, and placing the community at defiance He appears to think he can do as he likes, and no one dare say nay. How long is it to last? — F. am, &c, Resident of Eight Yeaks.
