Madame Taglioni.
; The death is announced of Madame Taglioni, probably tlie most famous dancer of modern times. She was (says an exchange) of Italian descent, and was born m Stockholm m March, 1804, her father , being a ballet-master. She made her debat m 1827 at the French opera, and the marvellous grace, ease, and airiness of her dancing speedily won her fame m every capital m Europe. iShe was married to Count Gilbert de Voisin, and m 1847 retired from the sfc-rge with a handsome competency. All her savings, however, wore lost m the Franco-German war, and m her old age the famous danseuse who had "charmed and delighted so many thousands of the public had to support herself m London — where she settled down — by giving lessons to young ladies m dancing- and deportment.
