Sydney, April 18. The races were well attended, and the victory of JFavo m the Cup race was a great surprise, us he was quite an outsider. So far tho ring had all tho best of it. ■ Kan has not yet reached the country districts, where it is almost impossible to form any conception of the state of things. At least ninety per cent, of ♦••lie stock is dead, and m most of the districts the price of beef is likoly to reach a shilling per pound. In and around Sydney, however, good rains have fallen. A fatal prize-fight took place at liandwick yesterday morning. A man named Agair was killed m the ring by a colored man named Lawson. The mon were very- unequally matched. In the Assembly the discussion on the Estimates still continues*. Efforts are being made to effect a reduction, but to no purpose. It is probable that the Government will propose a duty on newspapers.At a sale of yearlings yesterday very poor prices were obtained.' A brown colt, brother to Firi»t Demon, -brought 300 guineas; a Lady Kingston colt went at 1120 guineas to the Hon. J. White ; tho blood horse Scamp brought 1-550 guineas, and goes to the Bylong Stud ; a brown colt Uv Muskot from Pungawerewere, fetched 10) guineas. Brisbane. Parliament is further prorogued to the 3rd of Juue. Melbourne. The Maori " nmbassy " has been en tertained by tho City Council. All the members of the party rigidly adhere to the blue ribbon principle. A shocking coach accideut has occurred between Morning*. on and Waukuston. One Jady was killed, and several 'persons wore injured. Miss Walsh, the secretary of the suppressed Irish Ladies Land League, is at present on a visit to Victoria.
