Disgraceful Proceedings.
(to the editor of the standard.) Sir, — Will you give me space topoint out the disgraceful orgie.s that' are carried on m tho Foresters' Hall night after night. Is not the lessee responsible (morally, if not legally) for tlm abominable, "oings on m and arbnud the building ? 1 have spoken to several resid<MitH who complain loudly of the' shocking immorality that is witnessed. It is neither more nor less than "a common nuisance. The lessee can surely not be ignorant of the purpose for which he lets the building. The police or Borough authorities should 's>tO' such' abomination forthwith Larrikinism and prostitution are indulged m "till early hours m the morning, with other vices and lewd ness of every description. The effect must, be most demoralizing. X the Borough authorities do not interfere, they are greatly to be blamed and I trust they will not 'hesitate to do their duty, and at once suppress such a glaring and disgraceful nuisance" — I am, &c, ;i: Resident op the SquAjbe.
