This is the best month of ' tffl*s&4 r to make alterations m the ;: garden and pleasure grounds. They ought now to be pushed on with vigour.. New gardens especially should noiv re^ coive attention. The soil should be trenched and drained before the wet. weather sets m, the walks made ' and,^ gravelled, flower beds marked out; lawns, edgings, and grass m pleasure grounds levelled, turfed, ,or sown m gra*s immediately. This ' work : being done iutne awtumn will always succeed better and cost^ less than if done m the winter. Remove the decayed debris of all plants as soon as they are past flowering. Dahlias : continue tying up and give frequent waterings with liquid manure." Bouvardias will now be beginning to flower profusely. Give them pleiity : of liquids., Chrysanljh;e7?r mums also give plenfcyof liquid manure:* tie them up, stake, .and thin out if necessar/i "Lawn : cut.tu!e;' grass "'short. Walks : Hoe to kill weeds, lake and roll. " :<
