New Remedies m Children's Complaints.
A writer m the London Lancet relates a rapid cure of erysipelas m a child, supevveniug on a burn. He put a thick coating of white lead pain' over the entire forearm, back and front, enveloped the limb m cotton wool, and ordered one dram of tincture of perchloride of iron m divided doses throughout the day. Next morning he found the child sitting 1 up; the temperature was 97, pulse. 84, the tongue clean; about half an hour after painting, the p.in left him. he slept well, and on waking 'called .for" food. Another inter sring casn is that reported by Hingfc, <if Berlin,— that of the treatment of wlioo.iu^eoug'h.with. turpentine, will) ast >ni»hing results. The patient was a little girl three and half years old, and a fatal ivsup seemed imminent. Dr. Ringk prescribed 01. tprebintji, 10 grains; syr. althseoe, 80 gm|ns; a lablespoonful every three hours. The next uay when he saw the child, he could hardly behfcve his eyes — she was sitting up m bed, . wiih a groat slice of bread and butter m her hand, which she was .eating and evidently enjoying. The cough had totally disappeared, and no' evil results followed.
