WANGANUI STOCK QUOTATIONS.
Mr Freeman K. Jackson?* Fortnightly Stock Report. Wednesday, March 5. My sales show no improvement jn values ; m fact, sheep have sold m favour of buyers during the fortnight. This may be attributed to the harvest, settlers not being able to attend to the stock sales. A large number of sheep have changed hands at the quotations below. Lincoln rams are almost, unsaleable, a lot of really first-class animals having been sold to boil down. At Ri.atangata about one-half the stock offered were disposed of at fair values, with the exception of bulls and rams ; this description of stock were all withdrawn. At the yards to-day, nearly all the lots were sold. Some few pens of sheep had 1o be turned out, the price offered not being up to the vendors' ideas. Pigs were lower by 8b per head ; a large number came forWftl« Cattle.— Fal cows, L 3 17s 6d ; iteers, L 3 4s; 3-year-old largo bullocks, L 5. Sheep.— Fat sheep, 6s 9d to 9s 9d; 2-tooth ewes, 9s 3d; half fatted wethers, 18s ; mixed sheep, 7s to 7s 6d; lambs m wool, 5s 6d to 5s Od; did ewes, ss. Pigs.— About 200 made np the sale : Porkers, 16s 3d to 255 ; bettor sorts up to 30s ; stores, 8s 9d to 14s. Horses are unsaleable.
