Indignation Meeting. . [by telegraph.] (united press association.) Woodville, This Day. A largely attended indignation meeting was held here last night on account of the Government removing the engineers to Taranaki, and stopping the survey of the Napier- Woodville line. A resolution was passed protesting against the action of the Government, is thus breaking, faith with the districted urging thcrestoration of the engineersand the prosecution of the works and survey as promised m the Public Works Statement; also that the prosecutive of railways is necessary for the successful settlement of the large blocks of Crown Lands shortly to be- opened, and that the resolution be forwarded to the Government by Mr Smith M.H.R. Mr iMnith was present and addressed the meeting on the subject. At the close : of the meeting he chose the opportunity of .briefly addressing' his constitu tents mainly on the question of local Government, and he was enthusiastically received. In the course of his address he referred to last session as a barren one, ; when urgent private business sacrificed to Government business. • He promised a postsessional address late* on, and received a hearty vote of thanks. A Settlers' Association was formed here last night to' watch generally over the interest of the district.
