(Chronicle.) The gale which blew with tremendous force on Tuesday night has done immense damage to the crops all over the district, completing the havoc wrought by the previous long spell of bad weather. Between Wanganui and Waverly, and m the Rangitikei, the wheat crops have suffered greatty, and. as a prominent instance, Mr John Handley has a field at Nukumaru of 150 acres, from which the return will probably be nil; while m very many other cases nothing higher than seven bushels to the acre can be fairly anticipated. The agricultural outlook is gloomy m the extreme.
