A BAREFACED SWINDLE.
(By Telegraph.) (united press association.) Dunedin, January 16. An impudent case of obtaining goods under false vepre>entationb was held at the City Court to-day. A young man named George Lockhurst went to seve ral city tradesmen, and representing ; that he was m the employ of Dr Cough try, .succeeded m being supplied with a complete outfit, presenting m each case what purported to be a written order signed by the doctor. When that gentlemen was interviewed he stated that he had never seen the accused, and gave no authority of the kind indicate i to any person. So satisfied was one of the victims (a Mr Johnstone) with the bona Odes of the transaction, and apparently so pleased at the prospect of a good day's sale that he took the accused to a neighbouring tradesman aud had him supplied, with certain articles of clothing to be charged to his (Mr Johnstone's) account.
