EXECUTION OF JOSEPH POOLE.
(Per Mail Steamer.) He was convicted of the murder of John Kenny, m JJuly, 1882, after a trial m Dublin last November, and was hanged within tho walls of Richmond prison at 8 o'clock on the morning of December 18. Quite a crowd assembled, composed principally of women, who denounced the murdered man and eulogised Poole. No disturbance occurred. Kenny's murder occurred m Dublin on July 4. He was killed because he was suspected of giving infor mation concerning the Phoenix park murderers. Poole was held for trial on this account, with two others. He was released m September, and re-arrested at the funeral of Detective Cox, charged with being concerned m that murder. He owes his fate to his brother-in-law, Laurie, who, at the trial of Gubney and Kingston, two of the conspirators on May 4th, testified that Poole came to him on the night of the murder of Kenny, and described how it was done. He was tried twice on this charge, the jury failing to agree the first time.
