SHOCKING DEATH.

(Chronicle.) Another victim to a fall of earth has to be recorded. Yesterday afternoon Stephen Wilson was working with a number of railway men, over whom he was ganger, at a ballast pit at Whenuakura, when the- face of the pit fell, and struck him on the heaj. He was extricated by the other 'men, who started off to remove him to Patea, bnt he died on the way. Wilson was 48 years of age, and joined the railway service m 1877. He leaves a wife and eight or nine children to lament his loss. The deceased was not insured, and, m that respect, was an exception to the rule which happily prevails among the railway workmen.
