THE CHAMPION BICYCLIST.
Mr'Fitton, of the firm of Service and JFitton, bicycle-makers and importers, Auckland, is surely the champion " wheelman "of New Zealand. He arrived m Wanganui.last nijfht, having during, the past few days accomplished 400 miles on » bicyc!e,"aad traversed a goodly portion of the North Island. Starting from Auckland, he rode his machine via the Waikatand Ohinemuta down' to Napier. From here be went on bj road to Masterton, taking the train at that place to Wellington. After a brief stay m the Empire City, Mr< Fittoh took the train back again to^eatharston (ao as to avoid the tedious journey over the Bimutaka), and on Wednesday accomplished the long spin from Featherstoa through the Wairarapa and Forty Mile Bush to Ekatahuna. yesterday he got "over the ground between Exatahuna and Feildiug (via Wood vilie, the Gorge, and Palm erston), and came m to Wanganuiby train from Feilding last night. This morning Mr Fitton intends to start again on his bicycle for the north, hoping ro reach New ~P\ymouth to-night, and from New Plymout| he will go home to Auckland m the Union Company's steamer. — Chronicle.
