Sir Julius Yogel and Mr Anthony Hordern have entered into -partnership to construct the land grant railway authorised by the Government of Western Australia. In {he interval Sir Julius has shaped CftrTortunes and consolidated the Government of a colony, has lifted the nation of New Zealand from comparative obscurity and poverty to a dizxy height of fame (rfnon which it tottered and trembled for a while but ultimately Rested securely enough), has acquired a worldwide reputation as a financier, and made himself necessary to some amongst those who control the financial agencies of the world. Mr Anthony Hordern is not yet knighted; has hot yet meddled seriously m government, but certainly has achieved a position which is regarded with surprise, admiration, or envy— and muj, if the Land Grant* Syndicate really carries through, sit side by side m a very high place with his partner, the knight.
